A NOTE FROM SUPERINTENDENT GOTTO | October 16

Dear Westminster Public Schools Community,

I hope you can join us on Tuesday night for one of the best nights of the year in Westminster Public Schools.

Our District Showcase runs from 5 to 7 p.m. at Westminster High School and includes not only food for those who attend but also a free concert for those who arrive early. The Monster and Mariachi Music Masquerade will feature musicians from levels 3-12 in the Joanna Ramsey Theater at 5pm.

The night is a great opportunity for kids to wear their costumes, grab some candy, and explore all of the great opportunities in the district and at Westminster High School; for parents, it's more than that.

The Showcase is a chance to take a really deep look at what is going on in WPS schools and ask questions about priorities and plans to make them even better. I encourage parents to visit their school’s information booth and talk with your child’s principal and staff. They are excited to talk with you and gather your input and perspective.

Here is something else you may not know about our efforts to continually improve our schools. Every year, during the summer months and early part of the school year, our principals create what are called Unified Improvement Plans or “UIPs” for short. These plans identify every school's challenges, as well as opportunities, and ensure educators stay on track during the course of the school year. Our UIPs are also shared with the WPS Board of Education and the Colorado Department of Education which helps to keep everyone accountable for their work.

We know that in this day and age, everyone is so busy that it can be difficult to find time to connect with your child’s school, and that is why we created the WPS District Showcase.

It’s fun.

It's informative.

It’s important.

I hope to see you there.

Warm regards,

Dr. Jeni Gotto
